Everyday Hero

Tonight I tried
to get an old mac
configured for the web

It would have helped
someone
a lot, I think

It sits here now
quiet, disconnected
and green

I'll get it
eventually.
Meanwhile

my son is taping
a motorcycle phone
to my monitor

shoelaces, tripping on

every new band's dilemma

the empty room
if they only knew
but perhaps they do
and yet

these times take things
that reach inside
more or less
distractions by the minute

try it again, this time
you take the solo
should we do it two times
or three?

these things take time
like an accident
waiting to happen
try it slower this time

A Really Big B

B

The Tuesday Blurt

just one big

BLURT

BLURT

BLURT

There. That's better.

Invertamento

'prolegomena' fell out of the toolkit today
reached for it with index finger
glossed past chapter one
to read more -
jumped to
the
end
.
when
it's
zero,
what to do?
I mean, nothing's there
this works better uninverted
and then I fear to think of wave upon wave of words

everything

when the printer needs ink
and is poised on the shredder
and the four-cup coffee maker in the
flimsy white plastic bag
has sandals propped up against it
not to mention the scrubbing pad
left on the filing cabinet
and rented movie dvd half on
the electronic label maker
I pause

turn on the floor fan sitting
on top of the dehumidifier
and write about it all

Deliberated

Deliberate
that's what he was
to the end
or will be -

the bee also
who stung my shoulder
or died trying
to do more

the ache is not so evident
as i reboot the new used PC
and ponder how long
this will last

A Distant Drill

Ah, the dentist's chair,
the dentist's chair

I lie back
and imagine
beautiful skies
as a distant drill
hums

Stultification

It's nothing, I suppose
a passing comment -
words meant half in jest

Unknowingly not knowing
and shown to be so
despite otherwise efforts

a sigh, not at all
what we thought
next to nothing, really

how long can one hold out
on coffee from a machine
or even the expensive kind

my dear friend,
everyone's days
are numbered - you're not alone
