To Brother, With Golf Club

Do you remember that time
that you chased me around
the harvested corn field
with a golf club in your hands?

The late afternoon sun
cast slanting shadows
and you meant to give me
a piece of your mind

Living in daily proximity
has its challenges
and thankfully
I could run

Now you live
several days by car
on a hill

I look at an old golf club
and think of your birthday
today
and how proud I am of you

my brother

aurora - thank you - my brother loves to use word play, perhaps he will be encouraged to join in, at least sometimes.:) And then there is the other brother who coined "slog" for "steve's log"...

I still have 2 older brothers I owe some pay backs. I guess after 45 years the statute of limitations has run out! Great read!!

Andrew - a little over 2 years ago I started a pretty regular daily email to one, then both of my brothers, and then expanded it to include other relatives. It's been good. I wrote pretty much whatever came to mind that day. Which is kind of what I do now with this blog but it's more tipped towards learning about poetry, so I started another blog called 'just us' which has more of the family stuff.

capegirl - thanks - pretty sure you'd enjoy talking to Des. He's had many adventures, accomplished some interesting things, and I probably should let him tell anything else beyond that.:)

pat - I'm sure you would have some words for them. Sounds like they might feel some heat though!! I suppose never too late to revist as long as everyone can see some humor in it - and you are very good at that!
