Seriously now.

Everyday the whiskers grow
and get cut off
rinsed thoughtlessly down the drain

This done with the same care
as picking a shirt with not too many wrinkles
and remembering the belt

The same tired, hurried traffic shuffle
on and in through door upon door
switches flicked by the automaton

I've become.

Yet, a robot can't do all of that with your quickness. So you see, you're still up with the times.

You've captured the mundane purpose-less (probably not a word) of the daily grind. A rich depiction of a simple task made drudgery by its chronic repetition. Wonderful post!

qn - sometimes I check up on robotics progress at MIT - getting better, but you're right, still a way to go

nick - purposeless (~757K hits) and purposelessness (~112K hits) surprisnigly populate the googlesphere (probably not a word, but 795 hits all the same). Love your work on The Quotable Me (as well as the others).
