amid bills. tax forms, and feeble frenchifications
poetic pretension raises its twisted face
and ekes forth a half-sounded note
(it were better to practice with a mute)
personal fog drifts through his words
leaving listeners wondering why
or simply leaving
but still he makes eyes at the stars
not seeing the ditch into which he soon will fall
heedlessly, headlong and hard
this one is so strange
but so are bats echolocating dinner
and deer that run right into oncoming cars

poetry by sonar and apparent suicide
but
it works
it works so well
Haunting. A very dark, brooding sense of hopelessness permeating throughout. Love the finale - so true and so poignantly comparative to our own lives some days.
thanks for responding to this one - I'm not sure where this comes from but it seems to be sort of recurring. The italicized part could be left out since it confused my at-home editor.
